News update from Inspire St James Church, Clerkenwell

Recently, Christian TEFL had the privilege of training a church team on Zoom from Inspire St. James Church, Clerkenwell, London that are engaged in ESOL outreach in London.

The team were keen to develop their English outreach programme, while learning some new skills for the online environment, grow teacher numbers, as well as continue to invite interested internationals to English bible studies.

Our Zoom Spotlight training with the Clerkenwell group concluded in January 2021. However, we are really encouraged to hear of the many blessings they’ve experienced since, which is so inspiring.

A time of God’s favour

Ministry worker Mary Girma explains what’s been going on for this London-based team over the past months. She says:

‘God has been really blessing us with the ministry. All of our teachers you saw in the training except one got to lead their own sessions. Our zoom proficiency and group dynamics continually grew during the last term. We have had a very successful time online. Attendance was consistent as well.

We have so much to thank the Lord for:

• We have seen God’s favour as He blessed us with a continuously growing number on Meetup platform, with 5488 members and up to 35 sign-ups weekly.
• Our biggest celebration this term is one student who has come to give his life to the Lord radically choosing to follow Christ, He has been plugged into an Inspire group and is surrounded by loving church family in his faith journey.
  
• We had the whole class go through the gospel of John as we led classes using the Christianity explored material for six weeks. It was absolutely amazing to see non-believers from different faith backgrounds come back each week to keep exploring the gospel.
  
• Praise God for the students who wanted to read the gospel in a more detailed way. We had 6-8 students who consistently came to study the gospel of Luke and John each Thursday. One student from South Korea would wake up at 4 am to be part of this bible study. And another student from Mexico would always join at 1 am. Praise God for stirring hearts to seek him earnestly.’

Real encouragement for us

At Christian TEFL we are so delighted to hear of their continued faithfulness in this ministry of ESOL outreach in London. Isn’t it great news to read about such fruitful opportunities for gospel outreach?!
