We’ve just had our 70-hour Teaching ESOL course formally accredited by ACTDEC to their Level 2 standard. This brings our ESOL course, designed for teaching English in English speaking countries, in line with our other accredited online TESOL courses. This is great news for both us and for our trainees.

ACTDEC (the Accreditation Council for TESOL Distance Education Courses) is one of the UK’s longest established distance/online accrediting bodies in the TESOL industry. The ACTDEC Accreditation Panel look not only at course content, but also course process, structure, syllabus content, student progress and assessment. Accreditation covers the consistency and quality of tutor marking, with assistance to trainees alongside post-course support. Here is just one of the comments summarising the panel’s findings this week:

“Christian TEFL provides exemplary support and encouragement to its trainees and this Level 2 course is sufficiently challenging, using a wide variety of input and output tasks.”

Support, Feedback and Continuing Improvement

What is really pleasing is that ACTDEC recognises the efforts of our expert tutors. In the report, they comment on our tutors’ professionalism, as well as their warm, friendly tone.

“The course is supported by expert tutors who make opportunities to share their up-to-date experience and knowledge by providing additional video tutorials as well as in-depth feedback and responses to their trainees.’’

Also, they note that Christian TEFL ‘goes the extra mile’ and is open to hearing constructive feedback. Indeed, it is through this that we try to improve the learning experience for all our trainees.

In a final comment, they say:

“This is an organisation that is not willing to rest on its laurels but makes ongoing and consistent efforts to update and improve their courses.”

Summary

At Christian TEFL we are committed to delivering a high standard of professional English teacher training. Therefore, it’s been so encouraging to see this officially recognised through the Accrediting Panel’s comments.

This report reflects our values as a Christian organisation as we seek to serve Christ through English language teacher training.
